Primary Teacher Grade 1,2,3,4
- Create instructional resources in the classroom
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
- Create a positive educational climate within the classroom
- Meet course and school performance goals
- Participate in ongoing training sessions
- Grade papers and maintain grade books
- Utilize various curriculum resources
- Develop incentives to keep participants in class
- Create objectives and lesson plans
- Integrate competencies, goals and objectives into lesson plans
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the student served
- Utilize school library resources
- Work with HOD to develop classroom goals and needs
- Manage student behaviour in classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behaviour, social development and physical health
- Adapt to new teaching methods
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using varying teaching methods such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations
- Using different aids in learning such as, audio, visual, handouts, etc
- Read books to entire class or in groups depending on the classroom size
- Confer with parents on students’ progress
- Maintain accurate and complete student records required by school guidelines and the law
- Provide wide variety of materials for students to explore
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing the students
- Prepare for assigned classes, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration
- Attend professional development classes
- Must ensure that a daily lesson plan is on hand and innovative (not cut and paste from prior years), Make it your own
- Organize and label students; work properly for display
- Provide positive feedback
- Provides standardized achievement test and assessment forms on students
- Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers
- Involve parent volunteers and older students in children activities, in order to facilitate involvement in focused, complex play
- Any other assigned duties
